Our Faculty
Dr. Praveen Nathaniel
Dr. Praveen Nathaniel is a specialist prosthodontist in full time private practice in Glen Waverley, Moonee Ponds and Berwick. He is the principal dentist at the Melbourne Prosthodontic Centre. Dr. Praveen Nathaniel graduated as a dentist in 1986 and worked in general practice for 4 years then finished his Masters in 1992 at the University of Melbourne.
He is well experienced in multiple implant systems, being involved almost at the start of implant dentistry in Melbourne. Dr. Praveen nathaniel has been restoring over 10 systems over the last 27 years and placing 5 systems for the last 13 years. He is passionate about continuing education and has attended many courses with the leading figures in implant dentistry.
Dr. Praveen Nathaniel has had a long history of teaching the undergraduates, dental nurses, hygienists and overseas dentists as well as running and presenting continuing education courses for dentists including lectures and courses for numerous implant companies and University of Melbourne. He has lectured extensively locally, interstate and internationally.
Dr. Luan Ngo
Graduating with honours from the University of Melbourne in 1999, Dr. Luan Ngo worked in both public and private practice until 2003 when he commenced a Ph.D. in the field of periodontics looking at biomarkers for periodontal disease. Dr. Luan Ngo completed the didactic component of his specialist training in periodontics in 2009 and since then has been working in both private practice and as an academic at the University of Melbourne.
Dr. Luan Ngo is currently the Lecturer in Periodontics and Convenor of the undergraduate (now graduate entry) periodontics program at the Melbourne Dental School. Dr. Luan Ngo is also currently the president of the Australian Society of Periodontology (Victorian Branch). Dr. Luan Ngo is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in the specialist field of Periodontics.

Dr. Cindy Nguyen
Dr. Cindy Nguyen graduated with her dental degree from the University of Melbourne in 2004. Having finished as dux of her year, Dr. Cindy Nguyen received a number of awards from The University, The Melbourne Dental School and also from The Australian Dental Association. Dr. Cindy Nguyen is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in the specialist field of Periodontics.
Dr. Nguyen provides hands-on training to students during pig-head demonstrations and patient live-surgery.
Dr. Devika Iyer
(Masters in Oral Implantology, Masters in Periodontology)
Dr. Devika Iyer has a continued passion for surgery and periodontics. She graduated from the Univeristy of Melbourne in 1992 and commenced her practice Grandstand Dental Care in 1998 with a strong surgical and periodontal focus. Dr. Devika Iyer has been surgically placing and restoring implants for many years after receiving formal training in Implant Dentistry with the Australian Society of Implant Dentistry in 2005, and has expanded her practice since completing her Masters in Oral Implantology from Frankfurt University and a Masters in Periodontics from the International Medical College Germany. She is also a Diplomate at the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (DICOI, USA).
Dr. Devika Iyer has a real passion for working with patients to achieve the best possible comprehensive outcomes. She offers a range of solutions to help them from full arch dental rehabilitation using 4 to 6 dental implants, sinus lifting procedures, complex cosmetic and periodontal procedures, various non-surgical and surgucal procedures including periodontal grafting and the use of Platelet rich fibrin in the use of periodontal regeneration.
Dr. Barack
Dr. Barack has focused his periodontal practice to implant surgery and supportive reconstructive surgical procedures. Since 1984, he has refined surgical techniques related to esthetic implant results and the immediate provisionalization of dental implants for the edentulous arches. In addition to his teaching duties at the University Of Illinois – College Of Dentistry, Dr. Barack has lectured internationally on implant and periodontal surgical techniques.
Dr. Matthew Youssef
Dr. Matthew Youssef graduated with both a Masters of Clinical Dentistry from La Trobe University and a Bachelor of Health Science.He has learnt from World Leaders in Oral Implantology, has completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Implantology and is also a GIDE Master Clinician in Implantology.
Dr. Matthew Youssef is trained in PRF techniques by Dr. Joseph Choukroun, in Implantology and Restorative aspects by Dr. Sascha Jovanovik, Dr. Luke Villata, Dr. Praveen Nathaniel, and Dr. Joseph Kan.
Dr. Fadi Yassmin
Dr. Fadi Yassmin is a visionary dental professional known for pioneering approaches in dentistry. With expertise in implant rehabilitation and porcelain veneers, he combines artistic finesse with scientific precision. His patient-centric philosophy, bolstered by cutting-edge technology, exemplifies his commitment to innovative and personalized dental care. Recognized with numerous accolades, including ADA membership and a prestigious appointment to the Zaga Clinic, Dr. Yassmin’s transformative contributions continue to elevate standards in the field.
Dr. David Goubrial
After completing his University Degree, Dr. David Goubrial undertook his Oral Surgery training in the Oral and MaxillofacialUnit at the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne. Dr. David Goubrial also undertook his training in the Special Needs Department and worked at the Northern Hospital Dental Unit managing immunocompromised and special needs patients.
Dr. David Goubrial particular interests are impacted third molar surgery, dental implant and grafting procedures and the management of immunocompromised patients. Dr. David Goubrial operates out of the Ballarat Day Procedure Centre.
Dr. David Goubrial is passionate about sharing his knowledge. He teaches other general dental and medical colleagues.
Dr. Geoffrey Hall
Author, international speaker, and myth-busting orthodontist, Dr. Geoffrey Hall has been a central figure in the field of orthodontics in Australia and internationally for several decades.
Dr. Hall has been on the orthodontic teaching staff at both the University of Melbourne and the University of Pennsylvania, and he has served as an orthodontist at Monash Medical Centre in the Craniofacial Unit. Dr. Hall developed a short term cosmetic orthodontic treatment called Smilefast practiced by many dentists internationally.
As a leading orthodontic expert, Dr. Hall’s service to the community extends beyond his patients and he also performs the role of ‘teacher to the dentists’.
Dr. John Hagiliassis
Dr. John graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Dentistry in 1998. Dr. John founded a South Melbourne-based dental clinic in 2011, which quickly listed on BRW’S Fast 100 businesses in Australia for the years 2011 and 2012.
Dr. John is the largest provider of Phillips Zoom! whitening treatment in Australasia since 2012. Dr. John absolutely loves technology and loves finding ways to incorporate it into his practice to make him more accurate and efficient. Many years ago, John was one of the first people to have an iTero scanner in the world and has continued this trend by updating his technology constantly.
Rochelle Fisher
Rochelle is originally from England, relocating to Australia 9 years ago. She studied at Leeds Dental Institute and has worked with dentists, consultants and professors worldwide. Rochelle has developed a deep passion for the dental industry, with over 24 years’ experience.
“In the 24 years, I’ve seen such a massive change in the Dental Industry which I feel quite privileged to have come from an era of seeing Dentistry progress through technology. When that fails, I know how to go back to the basics and do things old school. My found passion is to pass on my knowledge and skills to others in the industry”
Dr. Fady Tossoun
Dr. Fady Tossoun graduated with honors from the University of Melbourne in 2009, following an earlier achievement of first-class honors in Health Sciences from the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand, in 2004.
After completing his education, Dr. Fady gained extensive experience practicing in both Community and Private Practices before securing a coveted position as one of Victoria’s two Oral Surgery Residents at the Royal Dental Hospital Melbourne in 2012. Here, he underwent rigorous training in various surgical procedures, including Dental Implants and Wisdom Teeth removal.
In 2013, he successfully completed his Primary Examinations at the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS) with commendations in all subjects. Dr. Fady achieved another milestone in 2022 when he was conferred as a Fellow of the College.
Expanding his expertise further, in 2015, Dr. Fady pursued additional education in Dental Implants and Cosmetic Dentistry by completing a One-Year Master Clinician Program in Dental Implants at Loma Linda University in California, USA.
Driven by a passion for dentistry, particularly the artistry of creating natural smiles, Dr. Fady is dedicated to providing top-quality care to his patients. Grounded and guided by the principle of treating every patient with the same level of care and respect he would extend to a family member, Dr. Fady embodies integrity in his practice.
Dr. Angelos Sourial
Dr. Angelos Sourial’s exceptional expertise and leadership in dentistry are evidenced by his recent accolades, including a prestigious fellowship at the Pierre Fauchard Academy and being named one of Doctor-To-Doctor World’s Top 100 dentists in 2023. These achievements highlight his dedication to excellence and his standing as a respected authority in the field.
With over a decade of focused experience in implant dentistry, Dr. Sourial has made significant strides in the field since earning his Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (Implants) from the University of Melbourne in 2010. His commitment to advancing implant dentistry has led to his appointment as Federal President of the Australasian Implant Osseointegration Society, placing him at the helm of education and research in the field.
His extensive knowledge and leadership are invaluable. His hands-on teaching, training, and mentoring through Spear Education Dental Study Club’s Victoria branch have already shaped many successful dental professionals. His deep understanding of implant techniques and commitment to raising industry standards ensure that ARIA will offer unparalleled education and training.
Matt Fien
Dr. Matthew J. Fien graduated from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in 2006. He received his specialty training in periodontics from Nova Southeastern University and his diplomate status from the American Board of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry in 2009.
He has published articles in various dental journals, including the Journal of Periodontology, the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry and more.
He lectures throughout the country on bone grafting techniques and all aspects of implant dentistry. He teaches a hands-on guided bone regeneration course, which he developed. Dr. Fien enjoys lecturing at Nova Southeastern University and several other post graduate dental programs.
He is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology and the Academy of Osseointegration and maintains a private practice in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
